Week commencing 16th November
In school this week we are continuing the group devised performances on the Ward 20 unit of work. In these group performances you will be playing the same characters as you portrayed in your monologues. This will be tricky at home if you are unable to be in regular contact with your group, however, you should think of and write down ideas that could be fed into your group devised performance upon your return.
Please think specifically about your newly acquired knowledge of Artaud & The Theatre of Cruelty and Le Coq, Minimalism, Multi-use Props & Masks. The more of these that can be fed into your pieces of drama the better, and the more abstract it will become.

Week commencing 19th October
Following on from last weeks learning on Monologue (speaking directly to the audience while in a performance on your own), students should complete their own monologue from last week. If you were in school last week this should focus on the Ward 20 project that we are carrying out at the moment. If you were at home last week, this can be based on whatever you started it on last week.
Learn your monologue, adding appropriate dramatic tension wherever possible and thinking about the theatre practitioners that we have learnt about. If you have the resources at home to do this, please record this and submit it to Mr Fields via email.

Week commencing 12th October
This week in school we are learning about Monologue (speaking directly to the audience while in a performance on your own). This is a logical progression from last week's work on direct address and breaking the fourth wall.
Students should research monologue as a dramatic style and watch the following YouTube clips showing effective monologues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TFwU9AudUo and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pusU90ov8pQ.
Students should attempt to write their own monologue in any style and on any theme (use those above (from Blood Brothers and by Shakespeare) for inspiration). Think specifically about how you might deliver this, learn and prepare to perform.

Week commencing 5th October
This week in school we are learning about Direct Address (speaking directly to the audience while in a performance) and Breaking the Fourth Wall (involving the audience in the performance, as opposed to performing for them, performing with them.
Research these two key dramatic techniques and reflect on how these can be used in conjunction with the work last week on Artaud's Theatre of Cruelty, and the previous learning on Le Coq's use of minimalism, mime and masks to create a high-impact piece of abstract drama.

Week commencing 28th September
Students should research the theatre practitioner Artaud and his dramatic style. Students should focus on his use of the Theatre of Cruelty and how this can be achieved in a piece of abstract drama. What is this style, how might you create it, what is it intended to do?
This research can be evidenced in any way you would like including an essay, PowerPoint presentation, fact file etc. and should be linked into how this could work in a live context.
