- Revise time and school day/routine vocab again if necessary and then log in to your Google Classroom and do the “Y9 wk 8 German Spelling Test” via the link that has been set as an assignment. - Germany’s school system is very different to the UK system so this week we are going to explore this in more detail to develop our understanding. On p4 of the school booklet there is a diagram that explains the different types of schools in Germany which also gives you the ages at which children start. Do your own research using the internet, to create a word or powerpoint document (either as a poster or a written account - it’s up to you) that explains the differences between the British and German systems. What are the similarities and differences between the different schools, and how do students decide which school to choose. Share your ideas with someone else from your class. What do you think of the German school system? Would you like to go to a German school? What is “sitzenbleiben”?
- Learn all the new German vocab to discuss the different schools on pages 4 and 5.

- Revise school subjects on p6 of the booklet, then log in to your Google Classroom and do the “Y9 wk 10 German Spelling Test” via the link that has been set as an assignment. - On p8-9, revise the vocab to give opinions on school subjects and reasons why (using , weil remember sends the verb to the end). Make a note of key vocab, especially adjectives to talk about school and subjects. Write 5 sentences giving a variety of opinions on school subjects and translate into English.
- On p10, learn all the adjectives at the bottom of the page to describe your teachers. Make a special note also of the intensifiers listed in the box on the middle of the page. Write a short description of your favourite teacher and say why, making sure that you use “, weil” and also a variety of intensifiers and adjectives. Try to use as many new and unusual words as you can in the shortest paragraph - I want a jam packed description full of great vocab using a variety of linking words too (include und, aber, oder, denn, weil, da)..

- Revise adjectives to describe school subjects and your teachers (p8-10), then log in to your Google Classroom and do the “Y9 wk 11 German Spelling Test” via the link that has been set as an assignment. Revise previous vocab and phrases from again if necessary. - Go over the vocab and phrases again from pages p8-10 to do with school subjects, opinions and reasons and description of your teachers. Write a longer paragraph to describe your school subjects and teachers. Make sure you include linking words (weil/ obwohl/ da/ denn/ und/ aber), and include intensifiers too (sehr/ ganz/ ziemlich). Use the phrases to help you come up with a well-linked detailed description of what subjects you like and don’t like. Include what your favourite subject is too and describe one of your teachers.

- Revise opinions and adjectives to describe school subjects and teachers (p8-10), then log in to your Google Classroom and do the “Y9 wk 12 German Spelling Test” via the link that has been set as an assignment. Revise previous vocab and phrases from again if necessary. - Learn the time phrases for discussing what you do during your week on p11. Write your own answer, changing and adapting the examples given, to the two questions: Was machst du vor der Schule? (What do you do before school?) and Was machst du nach der Schule? (What do you do after school?). Pay close attention to Word Order - remember Time Manner Place and Verb 2nd.
- On p12, read the grammar explanation to form the perfect tense. Look back at your exercise book to recap on the explanation and grammar exercises that we have done on the Perfect tense before the lockdown.

W/C 13/07: - Complete the remaining pages (p14-16) of the booklet looking at the future tenses. You will need to learn all the relevant vocab and phrases within these pages so spend some time learning and revising this vocab and get someone at home to test you, alternatively you could make flashcards to help you learn any tricky words.
