- p4 - Revise and test yourself on the school subjects from last week (you can use your flashcards that you made last week if you like, or ask a family member to test you).
- On p6, answer the questions about how you find your various school subjects in German. The sentences should all start with “Ich finde….” and make sure that you include a reason for your opinion too e.g. “, weil es langweilig ist” or “, obwohl es langweilig ist” (remember “weil” = because and “obwohl”= although and they both send the verb to the end).
- Finally, make your own dominoes using school subject opinion phrases. Each domino should have a German and a DIFFERENT English phrase, the matching English phrase needs to be on the next domino, with a different German phrase that then links to another domino and so on in order that your dominoes make a “ring”. E.g. Start:German1 → English1:German2→ E2:G3-->E3:G4-->E4:G5 etc. There is a blank dominoes template with a clear explanation below. Try to be creative and write using a wide variety of vocabulary that you have been learning. - Students can also revise the above topics using quizlet.com, languagesonline.org.uk.

-On the final page of the booklet, in German, write down the healthy food items (look at the pictures) under Thomas (er lebt gesund = he lives healthily) and the unhealthy items under Kira (sie lebt ungesund = she lives unhealthily).

- Page 1 : Recap numbers from year 7. Read through the numbers and highlight any which you may have forgotten. Try to test yourself by counting aloud.

- Revise time and school day phrases/ vocab again if necessary and then log in to your Google Classroom and do the “Y8 wk 8 German Spelling Test” via the link that has been set as an assignment. - Last time we went over numbers, the time and your morning routine sentences on page 2 and top of page 3. This week we are practising the time again and phrases which describe what you do. Now:
- Go over the numbers on page 1 again & highlight / go over any you struggle with remembering.
- write out the sentences on page 3 in the correct order & translate them into English ( for example : “It’s a quarter to 9, school begins” is the last of the 5 sentences describing your morning routine.)
- Underline all the VERBS in this paragraph.
- In exercise 4) write your own paragraph ( you will need to change the times about when you get up, go to school, etc).

W/C 15/06: - Revise telling the time again, then log in to your Google Classroom and do the “Y8 wk 9 German Spelling Test” via the link that has been set as an assignment. Revise previous vocab and phrases from again if necessary. - -This week we move from Daily Routine to School. So : have another go at practising & writing about time and daily routine by writing at least 5 sentences about your daily routine on page 4 number 5): like “Um acht Uhr gehe ich zur Schule”. Remember that “um” is “at” and, if you start with a time, you will need to move “ Ich gehe zur Schule” to “um 8 Uhr gehe ich zur Schule” = because the verb comes 2nd. Then : move on to the school routine sentences on page 4.
- Translate & learn the 10 school routine phrases. Write them out in English and German, learn them & remember their spellings, too. Highlight and focus on the ones you still struggle with.

- Revise the ten sentences on p4 that you translated and learnt last week. Then log in to your Google Classroom and do the “Y8 wk 10 German Spelling Test” via the link that has been set as an assignment. - This week we are learning more School vocab. So: -Go back over the Daily routine sentences on page 4. Cover the English translation of the 10 sentences you did last week & see if you can remember the translation. If you have not translated the 10 sentences yet, do it now. Make sure you remember their meaning before you move on. -Now: look at the list of key words on School on page 5. You need to learn these this week. Find the way which suits you best : highlight the most difficult ones / make vocab cards with English on one side, German on the other / look-cover-check / etc. Spend this week learning these key words : learn what they mean AND try to remember their spellings.

- Revise “School subjects and opinions” vocab on p5, then log in to your Google Classroom and do the “Y8 wk 11 German Spelling Test” via the link that has been set as an assignment. Revise previous vocab and phrases from again if necessary. - -Last week you discovered a lot of key vocab on school. It is very important that you continue to learn this. Use anything to help you remember the words & phrases = make vocab cards, if you have not already done so. Write the German words on one side, and the English translation on the other. Continue to test yourself until you remember them well.
- This week you will move on to not only remembering the key vocab, but also to making up your own paragraph. Your chance to be creative ! So: on page 6 do the translation in exercise 2, using the key words to help, if you like, and then write your own description of our school in exercise 3.
- When you have done that, check your spellings and accuracy by comparing it to the key phrases on page 5. Did you remember capitals for nouns ? Did you include opinions ?
- Now you can learn your paragraph off by heart & practise saying it to yourself or to a family member. Now you can speak about your own school in German !

- Revise “School subjects and opinions” vocab on p5 and the phrases used on p6, then log in to your Google Classroom and do the “Y8 wk 12 German Spelling Test” via the link that has been set as an assignment. Revise previous vocab and phrases again if necessary. - Over the past few weeks you have done a lot of work on school routines. Now we are practising these phrases and moving on to answering questions independently. So:
- Go to page 7 and answer the questions in exercises 1) and 2). Use your notes, if you like.
- On page 8 you will now be able to talk about WHEN you have WHICH subject, so fill in your time table in German, and check the spellings if you are not sure. Remember, subjects are nouns and need a capital letter at the start (e.g. Deutsch, Englisch). Then : Learn the key phrases at the bottom of page 8.
- Now : Go to page 9 and write at least 4 sentences, following the bullet points. You can extend your answers, if you like. Be careful with your spellings & check if you are unsure.

We would also like you to participate in a little project that will enable you to get very creative : Design your own German t shirt ! So : you can choose to use a new (or old) t shirt and write / draw on this, use Paint 3D, or simply do it on paper. All we ask is that the writing on your t shirt is in German. You could select a phrase from any topic area, and choose a picture to match. Use an online translating tool or ask us if you wish to include a particular, unknown phrase. You might include “Ich fahre mit dem Auto !” and include a picture of your favourite car, or a sentence about your hobby and feature a picture of it on your t shirt. Bring it in in September, whether it’s on paper or the real thing !

W/C 13/07: - Well done to everyone who has followed the weekly instructions - you have learnt a lot ! Now it is important to continue to remind yourself of the vocab from the booklet,covering each topic. Now we would like you to focus on the vocab lists from pages 11 and 16 : make vocab cards featuring means of transport and items of food. You know how to do it : Make a small card / bit of paper, on which you write the German word on one side, and the English translation the other. Then test yourself, until you can remember the words and their spellings. When we come back in September you will be able to remember so much vocab if you continue to go over it.
